Vitality. Abundance. Renewal.
Rubí Lanjarón
A Living Pomegranate Museum
A contemporary cultural space devoted to the pomegranate, the symbol of Granada, explored through art, poetry, land, and living tradition.
Rubí : A future living museum in the heart of Lanjarón
RUBÍ is a new museum, gallery, and artisanal boutique currently in development in Lanjarón, Andalucía. Conceived as a Living Museum, RUBÍ will bring together contemporary art and botanical experience to explore the pomegranate as both myth and material — a symbol that connects land, history, and imagination.
Located on Calle Francisco Tárrega, steps from the Alcadima Hotel and the Lanjarón Balneario, RUBÍ is designed for slow sustainable tourism and long-term community enrichment
Why Rubi? Why Now?
The Liberation of Joy by Claudia Bonney
We are living through a moment of collective fatigue: digital overload, sensory deprivation, disconnection from land and craft and from each other. At the same time, there is a growing demand for places that offer embodied experience - where people can taste, smell, touch, and feel culture rather than consume it at a distance.
Rubí will respond to this demand as a Museum of the Senses.
Not a static institution, but a living ecosystem - where art, agriculture, mythology, and community meet.
Rubí is a place that shelters meaning in a fractured world.
The pomegranate is one of humanity’s most enduring and fascinating symbols — of life, renewal, fertility, and abundance. It gives Granada its name and echoes through its poetry, art, culinary and agricultural traditions.
RUBÍ will be a contemporary cultural space dedicated exclusively to the pomegranate — a focus that has never before been given a permanent home of its own.
The project positions Lanjarón as:
A place where local identity meets global cultural curiosity
A destination for visitors drawn to myth, symbolism, fine art, gastronomy, botany and craftsmanship
A bridge between Granada’s artistic legacy and contemporary cultural practice
“La granada es corazón que late sobre el sembrado.”
- Federico García Lorca

“¡Oh granada abierta!, que eres una llama sobre el árbol.”
- Federico García Lorca
Rubí is part of a wider living ecosystem.
All profits generated by the museum and shop will be reinvested into:
Local employment
Artisanal production and fair visibility for makers
Finca Alma, a community gardening and regenerative agriculture project
This circular model ensures that cultural activity directly funds land care, wellbeing, and long-term community resilience.
RUBÍ exists not only for visitors — but for the people who live, work, and create in Lanjarón. It is conceived as a human-scale project and shaped to fit the rhythms, needs, and character of Lanjarón.
